Diagnostic Imaging for Women provides detailed breast ultrasound for our patients, typically performed in conjunction with mammography. These two different imaging modalities ensure comprehensive breast health assessment, as some conditions are better seen on mammogram, while others can be best assessed on ultrasound.
There is no radiation dose associated with breast ultrasound. Warm gel is applied to the breasts before the performing sonographer places the ultrasound probe on the breast surface and applies gentle pressure to obtain accurate and clear images.
Some women have very complex breast tissue; others have very simple breast tissue. Scan times are usually 30 mins but can vary depending on the complexity of the breast tissue.
